Fresh Lunch
How We Got Started
Palgrave’s 1st Fresh Lunch program began in October 2012 – with support from the Town of Caledon’s Green Fund. This pilot project was modelled after the successful “Toronto Foodshare Salad Bar” – providing a weekly nutritious, hot meal (including protein, 3 fruits and 3 vegetables, and whole grain).
Palgrave United Community Kitchen co-ordinated the Fresh Lunch program and community and school volunteers ensured its success! It has continued to be offered on a cost-recovery model at Palgrave Public School. In 2017 it expanded to the Macville Public School as another pilot.
The Fresh Lunch Program here at Palgrave School continues to be a popular choice for students. As a school we are thrilled that our students are receiving a nutritious lunch. This impacts their learning in a positive way. And parents are also supportive of the lunch program because they know their children are getting a fresh and healthy lunch. It is a win-win for everyone.
Our Programs
The Fresh Lunch program is available to students of the Palgrave Public School and Macville Public School in Caledon, Ontario.
Your student will be able to create their own lunch from our student friendly buffet, packed with fruits, vegetables and proteins, with a focus on local and seasonal food.
Fresh Lunch prepared a Christmas lunch for Palgrave Public School students, teachers and volunteers.
Thank-you Meredith for the great service you provided through the school.
I would like to note that my daughter Esha, like others, very much enjoyed your phenomenal lunches. I am sure she will miss them.
As a parent I really appreciated all the care and thought you put into providing a healthy and tasty meal at a great price.
Have a great summer!
